Terms of use

For the Capture Shield browser extension · Version 1.0.0 · Effective 13 August 2026 · Last updated 13 August 2026

The short version

Capture Shield is free and is provided as is. It is a safety net that reduces the chance of your personal information appearing on a recording or a stream — it is not a guarantee that it never will, and it is not sold or offered as one.

Check your screen before you go live. What appears in your broadcast remains your responsibility, and the developer is not liable for anything that is exposed.

1. Agreement

These terms are an agreement between you and the operator of webmaghrebi.com ("we", "us", "the developer"), covering the Capture Shield browser extension and this website (together, "the extension").

By installing or using the extension you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, do not install it, and uninstall it if it is already installed. Uninstalling is the complete remedy available to you, and it is always available.

2. What the extension is

Capture Shield is a browser extension with one purpose: to reduce the chance that sensitive personal information is readable on screen while you record, live stream or share your screen. It examines the text of pages you open, identifies values that match its detection rules, and changes what is rendered so those values are not displayed in full.

It is free. There is no paid tier, no subscription, no account and nothing to buy. No payment is requested, received or held by the extension at any point.

The popup shows a "Keep Capture Shield free" button that opens a donation page in a new tab. Donating is entirely voluntary and buys you nothing: it is a gift, not a purchase, and not a payment for goods or services. It creates no contract, no account and no customer relationship. It does not unlock any feature, does not entitle you to support, priority, updates or a working extension, and does not change any part of these terms — including the disclaimers and the limitation of liability below, which apply in full to everyone whether they have donated or not. Donations are not refundable by the developer; any refund is a matter for the payment provider under its own rules.

The donation page is operated by a third party. Your dealings with it, including the payment itself, are governed by that provider's terms and privacy policy, and the developer is not responsible for it, for its availability, or for anything that happens on it.

3. Licence to use it

You are granted a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use the extension for its intended purpose. All other rights are reserved by the developer.

You agree not to:

4. No guarantee of protection

This section is the most important one in this document, and it is written plainly rather than in legal shorthand because it needs to be understood before you rely on the extension.

Capture Shield reduces exposure. It does not eliminate it. Detection works by recognising the shape of a value — an address that looks like an email address, digits that pass a card checksum, a string that validates as a wallet address. Recognition of that kind is imperfect by nature. Some sensitive values will not match any rule, and some harmless text will match one.

Specifically, and without limiting the above, the extension does not and cannot protect:

The extension may also fail to work as intended because of a bug, a browser change, a website that renders content in an unusual way, a conflict with another extension, or a setting you have changed. It is one layer of a setup that should also include a clean browser profile, a capture scene that crops rather than shares your whole desktop, and a delay on your broadcast.

5. Your responsibility

You use the extension at your own risk, and you remain solely responsible for what appears in anything you record, stream or share. In particular you are responsible for:

6. No warranty

No advice or information, whether given on this website, in the store listing, in the extension's own interface or in correspondence, creates any warranty not stated here.

7. Limitation of liability

What is not excluded

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.

If you are a consumer, you have statutory rights that these terms do not affect. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of implied warranties or the limitation of certain damages, so parts of sections 6 and 7 may not apply to you. Where a limitation is not permitted, the developer's liability is limited to the smallest amount permitted by the law that applies to you.

8. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless the developer from any claim, demand, loss or expense (including reasonable legal fees) brought by a third party and arising out of your use of the extension, your breach of these terms, or content you have recorded, broadcast, published or shared.

9. Websites you use it on

The extension operates on third-party websites. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to any of them, and the developer is not responsible for their content, their conduct or their availability, or for any effect the extension has on how a particular site behaves. Your use of any website remains governed by that website's own terms.

Google Chrome, the Chrome Web Store and Google are trademarks of Google LLC. The extension is not affiliated with or endorsed by Google. Distribution through the Chrome Web Store is additionally subject to Google's own terms, which are between you and Google.

10. Acceptable use

The extension exists to protect your own information from incidental exposure. It must not be used to conceal information you are legally or contractually required to disclose, preserve or present — including in an audit, a regulated process, a legal proceeding, a compliance obligation, an examination or any recording made as a formal record. Using it for that purpose is a breach of these terms and is your responsibility alone.

11. Not professional advice

The extension, this website and its documentation are not security, legal, financial or compliance advice. If your circumstances call for a guaranteed level of protection, obtain advice suited to them; do not rely on a free browser extension for it.

12. Availability, updates and discontinuation

The extension is provided without any commitment to availability, support, maintenance or future updates. It may be changed, updated, restricted or discontinued at any time, and support is offered on a best-effort basis only. Updates are delivered through the Chrome Web Store, and installing them is subject to the browser's own update behaviour.

A future version may add, change or remove functionality, including detection behaviour. If a change ever affects what the extension does with your data, the privacy policy is updated before that version ships.

13. Privacy

How the extension handles information is described in the privacy policy, which forms part of these terms. In summary: nothing is collected, nothing is transmitted, and the only thing stored is your own configuration, on your own device.

14. Termination

You may end this agreement at any time by uninstalling the extension, which also removes the settings it stored on your device. The licence in section 3 ends if you breach these terms. Sections 4 through 9, and 15 through 17, survive termination.

15. Changes to these terms

These terms may be updated. When they are, the "last updated" date at the top changes with them. Continuing to use the extension after a change means you accept the updated terms; if you do not, uninstall it.

16. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of [JURISDICTION], and the courts of [JURISDICTION] have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them, without affecting any right you have as a consumer to bring proceedings in the country where you live.

18. Contact

Questions about these terms can be sent through the support section of the product page. Please do not include real personal information in a report — describe the shape of the value instead.
